How to merge PDFs online for free

Step-by-step guide to combining multiple PDFs in order - privately with no upload.

You can merge PDFs online in a few minutes when the tool runs locally in your browser instead of shipping every file to a remote server. The pattern is always the same: pick files, set order, download one combined PDF.

Steps

  1. Open a private PDF merger and select 2 or more files (max 5 MB each on Jigglify).
  2. Reorder the list so pages appear in the order you want.
  3. Run the merge and download the combined PDF.

Getting the order right

Think in reading order, not in the order files landed in your Downloads folder. Put the summary or cover first. Place exhibits after the narrative that references them. If you scanned a stack back-to-front, reverse the list before merging rather than fixing it later. When two sources overlap (an old draft and a new signature page), remove the obsolete file from the merge list instead of hoping the reviewer will skip it.

Limits to know

  • Keep each file under 5 MB on Jigglify
  • Merge up to 10 PDFs in one pass
  • Unlock password-protected PDFs before merging

If you have more than ten files, merge in batches: combine the first group, then merge that result with the next group. If a single scan is oversized, compress images or split out unused pages first, then bring the pieces back together.

Tips and pitfalls

Name the output clearly before you attach it - reviewers open whatever you send. Spot-check the first and last pages of the download; those are where order mistakes show up first. Do not confuse merge with "insert pages into the middle of an existing PDF" in a visual editor - a pure merger concatenates whole files. For mid-document inserts, you may need to split, then merge the pieces in a custom sequence, or use an organize step after a careful rebuild.

Prefer a client-side merger for anything you would not casually email to a random address. The online convenience stays; the upload risk does not.

After the merge

Skim the combined PDF end to end once. Confirm no duplicate section slipped in and that the last page is truly the last page you intended. If something is out of place, either re-merge with a corrected list or use a private organizer on the result. Store the final file with a clear name so you never reattach yesterday's incomplete draft by mistake.
